» Real time personalized training methods for cyclists
A lot of research has been done in the field of racing bike development (material properties and aerodynamics). However, the cyclist himself will remain the crucial factor for an excellent performance. Although some sensors for measurement of signals on the athlete and his performance are already available, the possibilities of ‘on-line’ analysis of measured information are not yet exploited.
In this project a method is developed that predicts the cyclists individual energy consumption based on data provided at any moment during his training/race. This allows better management and dosage of the cyclist’s energy and makes it possible to optimize the athletes training and performance during a race.
