The BioRICS Sleep Monitor is based upon monitoring and predicting the sleepiness level of the driver by on-line measurement of several biological responses (bio-responses) of the driver's body to his 'struggle to stay awake'. This struggle sparks of clear and detectable changes in some of his bio-responses. The revolutionary BioRICS Sleep Monitor is not only capable of monitoring driver sleepiness in real-time, it also predicts driver sleepiness up to 5 minutes in advance.
By monitoring the driver’s biological responses (ECG, biorythm, heat balance and/or driving performance) in real-time during the driving activity and putting this data in a mathematical algorithm, changes in the individual driver’s body functions are detected and allow to predict exactly when sleep will set in. An alarm can be triggered up to 5 minutes before the driver will fall asleep.
